Notes A variation of the Amazon Sword, I've had even more trouble with this plant. I bought a very large and gorgeous specimen for about $20 at a local pet store. Within a few days, the largest leaves started dying, and a month or two later there was nothing left except for a little stub of a mostly-dead plant. Since I'd paid rather a lot for it, I decided to try to try an experiment to salvage what was left. I put a couple of inches of regular potting soil in a one-gallon plastic jug, tucked in the remains of the Jade Sword, and covered the dirt with a layer of gravel. Finally, I carefully filled the jug with water, and placed it in the window sill where it gets very bright sunlight part of the day. So far the results are promising - there are small new leaves forming.
